Sure there are many adverts professing to be able to remove belly fat overnight.  Adverts with pills, belts, rollers, rockers and every other conceivable piece of equipment.

There is no such thing as a fat loss miracle!

In my opinion many of these products are just gimmicks, designed to address your desire to learn how to get a flat stomach.

In this post I want to give you a quick tip on how to lose weight on your stomach to help show off your sixpack abs if that’s your desire, or to simply reduce your waistline and improve your health.

Note, it isn’t possible to do spot reduction i.e. to remove love handles etc, there isn’t just one thing you can do to stimulate fat loss from your stomach area.

Another myth is that doing abdominal exercises like sit ups will actually help you lose weight in your stomach region.  Ab workouts and abdominal exercises are designed to develop your abdominal muscles, they are not designed to reduce belly fat.

The best way for losing weight off your stomach, is to carry out exercises that develop the largest muscle groups. These groups of muscles are your legs, chest and back. The benefit of carrying out these exercises is that it increases your body’s metabolic rate. Your metabolic rate increases during the workout and can stay high for the next 48 hours; burning belly fat!

Doing purely abdominal exercises doesn’t create the metabolic rate increase needed to burn belly fat.

In addition to the increased metabolic rate your body achieves through the practice of these fundamental muscle building exercises, it also increases the production of various hormones that have been attributed to the loss of belly fat.
